Women in Resistance:

Seeking Justice for Genocide and Defending our Lands

Women across Guatemala are organizing to defend their rights. They are combating violence and destructive large-scale development projects and demanding justice for genocide and other crimes of the past.

As a result, they have been victim to ongoing attacks, repression and criminalization.

Meet these amazing women for yourself and learn about how the international community can support their work. Delegation participants will meet with a diverse group of women: Mayan, Xinca, and Ladina; rural and urban; community organizers and national activists; survivors of violence and victims’ advocates. Delegates will also have the opportunity to share their experiences and concerns with officials from the Guatemalan government and the US embassy.

The delegation will begin in Guatemala City and travel to the department of El Quiché. Dates: August 3-11, 2013

Anyone is welcome to apply. More information here.

“The delegation was a transformative opportunity to learn from activists and organizations defending their rights. What really inspired me was the warmth and courage of the women we met.” -2012 delegation participant
