Solidarity Organizations Demand that Guatemalan State respect decisions of Constitutional Court

On July 25th internationla human rights and solidarity organizations published a letter demanding that the mining operations at CGN’s Fenix Nickel Project be suspended in accordance with a decision by the Constitutional Court. The court temporarily suspended operations because of a petition by Maya Q’eqchi communities alleging that they were not consulted and their right to full participation in decisions that could impact them was violated when the Ministry of Energy and Mines granted an exploitation license to CGN.
