June 29, 2011: The Public Ministry and the CICIG investigate the Social Communications Office of the National Civil Police. After discovering potential edits to documents related to the deaths of Oscar Reyes and Antonio Beb Ac during the eviction in Miralvalle, Alta Verapaz, the MP and the CICIG received a warrant to raid the Social Communications Office of the PNC. They looked through all the computers for the originial documents. The investigation is still ongoing and the MP has yet to make any public statements. [El Periodico]

May 31, 2011: The Public Prosecutor's Office Appeals Portillo's Absolution. The Public Prosecutor's Office has set up an appeal of Portillo's recent sentencing, May 9th, when he received a "not guilty" for laundering $15 million of the government's money. They seek a sentencing of 10 years in jail for Portillo. This comes one day after Guatemala's Supreme Court upheld the legality of the authorization of Portillo's extradition to the US. [La Hora]
