GHRC/USA is Awarded Democracy in Action's Empowers Grant

March 3, 2008

GHRC/USA is proud to announce that we have been awarded an Empowers Grant through Democracy in Action (DIA). DIA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a strong, progressive infrastructure and helping organizations effectively organize online. As a service provider, DIA offers cutting-edge communication tools enabling its member organizations to do everything from sending mass e-mail blasts to taking donations online.

The Empowers Grant is awarded to only five organizations that have the ability to make the biggest impact through the most effective use of DIA’s e-advocacy tools. The Grant offers one year of free e-advocacy tools to the selected organizations.

GHRC/USA is very proud to have been selected for this award. DIA’s e-advocacy tools have tremendously helped us in our efforts to bring to light the continuation of human rights abuses in Guatemala. With DIA’s tools, our grassroots base is able to quickly and easily contact members of the Guatemalan government to demand investigations into crimes. Our base is also easily able to contact their US Senators and Congressional Representatives to ask them to sponsor important legislation in the US pertaining to human rights abuses in Guatemala. We look forward to pursuing new e-advocacy methods with DIA and we are grateful for this opportunity.
