As Maya Q’eqchi land defender Abelino Chub Caal awaits the verdict in his trial over 130 organizations from around the globe published a letter urging the Guatemalan state to stop the prosecution of Abelino and immediately set him free. The letter also asks Guatemala to guarantee the rights of the indigenous and peasant communities, as well as the right to defend human rights in their territory.
